CIGI’s SSR activities include:
-The Security Sector Reform Monitor is a quarterly publication that tracks developments and trends in the ongoing security sector reform (SSR) processes of five countries: Afghanistan, Burundi, Timor-Leste, Haiti and Southern Sudan. Every quarter, there will be separate editions for each case study country. Adopting a holistic definition of the security sector, the Monitor covers a wide range of actors, topics and themes, from reforms in the rule of law institutions and armed forces to demilitarization activities and the role of non-statutory security and justice actors. Research for the Monitor is field-based: a resident researcher in each case study country leads data collection and analysis, with support from desk-based analysts at The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). The same research guidelines are employed for each country. All editions of the Monitor are subjected to an external peer review process in addition to our internal editorial review.
-The Security Sector Reform Resource Centre (www.ssrresourcecentre.org): This website is intended to serve as a hub for security sector reform policy makers and practitioners. It will feature a range of information about Security Sector Reform (SSR), including multi-media resources, country backgrounders, an e-book on SSR, and practitioner blogs. CIGI officially launched the Resource Centre on April 28, 2010.

-The Future of SSR e-conference (www.ssrfuture.org): On May 4-8th 2009, CIGI held a successful e-Conference, called "The Future of SSR," with more than 250 participants taking part from more than 50 countries. The virtual conference assembled some of the world’s most prominent SSR practitioners and experts to debate the future of the concept. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with 98 percent of participants saying that they would take part in another e-conference.
